Can I register as a blood stem cell donor if I’m gay?

Yes. On 18 December 2014, the German National Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ZKRD) in Ulm amended its German Standard for Stem Cell Donations from Unrelated Donors (version 10 and later) to allow homosexual males to register as potential blood stem cell donors with DKMS gGmbH or one of the other German stem cell donor registers.

Prior to that, during meetings of the responsible specialist committee, DKMS had been a vocal advocate of allowing homosexual males to register as blood stem cell donors.
